You will be an E3, which is two grades higher than someone without a degree. It’s not much, but you will have more opportunities right off the bat. Military pay grades are all standardized regardless of the service. view the link below to see a chart.

If you want to be a commissioned officer it is a totally different path. You need to attend OCS for the Coast Guard. It is extremely competitive, with admission based highly on your academic credentials. So if you had a GPA of 3.0 or something then forget it.

If you have a bachelor’s degree then you need to speak with an officer recruiter and see about officer candidate training. There is no pay differential in the military for degrees held. An E1 with a bachelor’s degree makes exactly the same as an E1 that dropped out of high school.

However, it’s likely that you can receive immediate advancement in most services (at least to E3) on the basis of your degree if you enlist.

Having a degree doesn’t create an officer. Very many enlisted personnel have degrees. Most senior enlisted personnel have a degree. I can point to a couple units where the NCOs/Chiefs have master’s and doctorates. It’s not about the degree. It’s just that a degree is one (of many) requirements of a commission.

G’day,

Looking at the online database, the only universities offering the course are UNSW (Sydney) & Bond University (Gold Coast) called Master of Psychology – Forensic. Both are fully accredited and equally recognised, so you do not have to worry abt the recognition of the degree.

Unfortunately none of Victorian universities offered such course.

You need to look at a research Masters not a Coursework one. This field is not a coursework field but research. So you will need to search Medline to see which university academics there are in Australia – and approach their universities for a research Masters or PhD. These degrees are different from a coursework on in that it is generally FT – 9-5 M-F with some weekend work as opposed to a couple of hours a week for a course work degree.

If your really want cj then your choice of John Jay (CUNY) is really great.
Unless the probation offices you will be applying to specify cj I would suggest soc or psych as a major.

You can try contacting your state’s Bar Association and see if they have a listing of attorney’s by specialty and just call every number on the list until you find someone who’ll work with you.

Unfortunately if you can’t afford to pay you will probably end up with a public defender.

If your school is accredited by a nationally recognized organization, your degree should be recognized and accepted anywhere in the United States.

As long as your degree is from an accredited university it will transfer. But if you get POST certification in Illinois it will not transfer to another state, so you would have to go through the POST academy again, if you attend POST before you move.
